In 1962, Jack Rutherford took the reins from his father, changing the direction of the company from retail hardware to architectural hardware distribution. He introduced to the Canadian marketplace a more global offering by importing innovative, high-quality products which he designed specifically for the North American market.

In the 70's and 80's, the company, then named Rutherford Marketing Services, grew by leaps and bounds as a third generation, Jack's daughters, Tracey and Victoria, joined the family business. The company developed into Rutherford Controls, and grew to span North America, with divisions in Canada and the United States.

Known today as RCI, Rutherford Controls Int'l Corp. has forged strategic global alliances and provides the architectural hardware, locksmith, and security markets with the best in electric locks, door hardware and access control products.
