Rubio Monocoat Pre-Aging Fumed Light is a water-based pre-treatment designed to give interior wood an authentic, lightly fumed appearance. It is ideal for wooden flooring, furniture, stairs, bespoke joinery and wall panelling where a softer aged tone is required.
Unlike reactive ageing treatments, Pre-Aging is non-reactive, helping to deliver a more predictable and even colour result across all wood types, including tannin-free woods. The formula is odourless, free from harsh chemicals and has 0% VOC content, making it a practical choice for interior wood finishing projects.
Fumed Light creates a subtle pre-aged effect while still allowing the natural character of the timber to show through. It can also be mixed with other fumed or smoke shades to help achieve the desired tone for your project. When combined with Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C, the surface achieves both the chosen colour effect and long-lasting protection.
Application
Sand the wood scratch-free and remove all residues from previous treatments such as varnish, oil or wax. Vacuum the surface thoroughly before application.
Shake the bottle well before use. Apply evenly and generously using a microfibre pad, brush, sponge or roller. Avoid puddles and ensure smooth, even coverage.
Allow Pre-Aging to dry for approximately 24 hours in a well-ventilated area. Drying time may vary depending on temperature, humidity and ventilation.
Once dry, lightly smooth the surface with a red pad to remove any raised fibres. Then apply Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C in your chosen colour.

Please note: Pre-Aging is a pre-treatment and does not protect the wood on its own. It must be finished with Oil Plus 2C or Invisible Protector for maximum protection.
